Milk board funds cut to 1.5 million for ADA Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board executive committee moved to recommend at the September meeting that 1.5 million of dairy checkoff funds be allocated to the American Dairy Association of Wisconsin for 1983. The proposal trims ADA requests by about 800,000 and seeks a formal contract with itemized expenditures and reporting. The board also considers reimbursing the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives for debts and funding independent calcium research, while keeping flexibility for other proposals and a 11 million pool.

Karyn Schauf resigns ADA district chair post

Karyn Schauf of Barron steps down as ADA District 10 chairwoman after a meeting with John Rosenow of the Milk Marketing Board. She says the move avoids potential conflicts as she also chairs MMB promotions funding. Allard Peck will replace her, with optimism about ADA's future but calls for closer board integration. The meeting noted potential joint functioning of ADA and MMB if the milk marketing order is discontinued in four years.
