Reads Landing dredging resumes on Chippewa Mississippi confluence
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers resumes dredging at Reads Landing Minnesota for the second time this year. A 64 member crew based in Fountain City can remove about 15 000 cubic yards daily at 72 000 dollars weekly, with totals expected to reach around 52 000 more yards by August 17. Sediment from the Chippewa River drives the project as heavy rains increase runoff. Written comments on Wisconsin Fund nonpoint program are due by September 5.
