Special investigators for the DNR uncovered violations at two Wisconsin taxidermy schools, potentially leading to charges against school officials instructors students and independent taxidermists. Ralph Christensen said undercover wardens enrolled at both schools from May to October 1984. They attended two-week and six-week sessions at the American Institute of Taxidermy in Janesville run by John R. Rinehart and Andres Taxidermy School in Stratford run by Jerry Andres. Potential charges stem from the investigations.
Geoff Emerson, former West Central DNR fish specialist, was named assistant district director for the 12-county Northwest District. He replaces retired Robert Becker and will oversee fish wildlife forestry law enforcement fire control parks land acquisition and recreational programs. Emerson, Purdue fisheries biology degree, will reside near Spooner with wife Barb and two children.
