Aliens must report land ownership to ASCS in Wisconsin
Foreign owners or those with at least five percent interest in area farmland must report to the local county ASCS office. Reporting follows the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act of 1978 and failure can incur fines up to 25 percent of the land's fair market value. Idled land used in agriculture and ownership interests through partnerships or trusts also count. Local ASCS offices provide details.
