Steel To Offer Wage Increase In Steel Talks
United States Steel Corp said it will offer the CIO United Steelworkers a wage increase with aim of a quick mutual settlement. Postal workers launch fund drive for Yocom family
A public subscription fund was started Monday by postal transportation workers to aid Robert Yocom his wife Mrs Wilma Yorom and their son Robert Jr after a wall paper steamer exploded in a home accident that seriously burned Yocom and hospitalized the family. Fellow workers John Lindsay Ronald Moss and Richard Kemp seek to raise at least 2000 within two weeks with donations sent to Lindsay 202 Highland Drive Cedar Rapids. The Nonpareil will publish daily totals.

Five In Family Hurts In Accident Near Dunlap
Harvey Nicholson family of five sustained injuries in a Sunday crash on Highway 0 south of Dunlap. Nicholson 52 the driver and two children were taken to Mercy Hospital Council Bluffs while Mrs Nicholson and Charles were sent to Denison Hospital. Deputy Sheriff Ray Weber said the northbound pickup pulled in front of a southbound truck at a traffic control point where a man repaired a road. The patrolman directed the drivers to proceed before the collision. Nicholson suffered chest and skull injuries and was in fair condition. his son Donald 5 had head injuries and lacerations in satisfactory condition. Eva Mae 8 in good condition with a bruised leg. Mrs Nicholson 31 had possible concussion and neck injuries. Charles Eva Mae and Jimmy 10 rode in the back. Jimmy and the truck driver were uninjured.

DES MOINES P Guy D Schooler, president of Hartford Carlisle Savings Bank at Carlisle, was fined 32000 by Federal Judge William F Riley for his role in a check kiting scheme.
