Des Moines Governor Leo Hoegh told a news conference he will urge the Tow Tax Study Committee to keep the state out of the property tax field and keep the homestead tax credit unchanged. He said no changes are needed and he will be just a witness. He also suggested abandoning the extra half cent sales tax after two years. He touched on payroll deduction for state income tax and real estate assessments moving to present day values with lower millage.
