Death of Little Bernard Hoene
Bernard Hoene nine month old son of Mr and Mrs John Hoene died Sunday night after a brief illness due to bowel trouble acidosis. Funeral was held Wednesday forenoon conducted by Father Willibrord. The Hoenes have lost six children to the same illness and now have three healthy children aged 11 5 and 3. The community extends sympathy and thanks to friends for support during their hour of trouble.

Henry Brown known as Dynamite Brown is jailed in Grangeville on $20,000 bond for disloyalty. He faced U. S. Commissioner Gareth Monday after Edward Hutchins of Stites filed a complaint. Brown allegedly spoke against the government while solicited by women to donate to a fund for army cantonments. He is a miner with recent head injuries reported.

Farm Wage Scale Fixed for Idaho Harvest Hands
A Moscow dispatch from February 21 reports Idaho's wage scale set by the state farm bureau and defense bodies. Harvest hands may be paid up to 30 cents per hour or 3 dollars per day with board, plus a 45 cent overtime rate for extra hours, with a 1 dollar daily bonus if they board themselves. General farm work tops at 60 dollars monthly with board, and married men boarding themselves get 80 dollars monthly with housing. Potatoes pay targets: 5 cents per 120 pounds for picking, 6 cents if the picker boards themselves.
