About 200 residents joined Fairview Park’s Walk for Leilani to support 4-year-old Leilani Gutierrez who was paralyzed in a Mother's Day car crash near South Coast Plaza. Her mother June Gutierrez and family friend Teri Williams shared gratitude as Leilani endures coma and needs ventilator care. Leilani travels between Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Health Bridge Rehabilitation Center for treatment. her father is rock guitarist Rodney Gutierrez.

Children stitch Sept 11 memorial quilts in Irvine
Sam Abeyta and friends 12 to 13 sew patches for three Sept 11 memorial quilts at the Irvine Marriott. Volunteers finish the US flag designed quilt based on faces of victims. about 1,500 photos used, with remaining images to be added by September 2003. The quilts tour nationwide to honor the dead and will be presented to New York City the Pentagon and Somerset County Pennsylvania.
