Delos Carpenter survived a dangerous explosion at Morgan Run mines after forgeting a fuse was lighting. He suffered a crushed right arm, multiple broken fingers, head wounds, a knee cut, and a leg injury. He was aided by fellow miners and transported home for medical care.

Coshocton County Fair Opens With Big Attendance

First day attendance nearly doubles last year as a crowd over twenty five hundred pays to enter. Races featured a 2 20 pace with sixteen starters and a 2 20 trot with over a dozen. Exhibits are ready and hospitality shines despite a dusty track.

Warwick Mines Organize United Mine Workers Tie

D H Sidlivan of the United Mine Workers of Ohio presided over a meeting at the Warwick mines to organize a union. Forty men are employed in opening the new mine and, with progress, more than three hundred fifty to four hundred workers may later be needed once production starts. The engine house foundations, four mammoth boilers, electric mining machines, and surface hoists are planned. A Coshocton to mining town train will transport workers, signaling a potential major boost for Coshocton.
