In Cincinnati on May 27 a report notes Lester Thiel died by his own action after attempting to kill a girl. The piece mentions Taft’s presidential nomination and a Republican personal headquarters in the city.
In Coshocton and Holmes counties a complex story unfolds as Lester Thiel, an 18 year old, dies by suicide after attempting to harm his love interest Iva Hochstetter an Amish girl. His body is found near a barn after a days long search and a funeral is planned with Coshocton relatives.
J L Carr of California and Miss Belle Ogden of Clarksburg West Virginia married in Cincinnati after a 30 year separation. Rev. Boughton officiated at Wesley Chapel parsonage. Carr said meeting halfway as a romance, plans to visit Clarksburg and then California.
Capt B Z Hays of Warsaw plans to enter Coshocton County Republican ticket for prosecuting attorney. A Taft movement leader with a strong following, Hays is described as a formidable challenger likely to force party bosses to listen. If he runs against Joe Melorvell, Melorvell faces a tough, determined campaign from start to finish.
The funeral for the late Mrs Joan Lay will be held tomorrow. The hearse will leave the house at 1 o clock and the sermon will be preached at Franklin MP church by Rev Thrapy.
A Farm between New Cameraton and Bird's Run reports three acre orchard of cherry, apple, and peach trees destroyed. Unknown vandal girdled trees with a sharp tool and loosened bark four feet above girdling line, ruining all trees. no report filed for several days.
Coshocton is named a banner Sunday School county for the year. Delegates elected to the state convention at Toledo in June include H. J. Kohler and W. H. Price among others. A temperance committee from townships was named and two addresses were heard, with continued notes on page eight.
Commalnioners of the special rondo district join county commissioners and Prosecutor Don McDowell for plans on steps toward a bond sale set for June 16. The meeting aims to align strategies and finalize preparations before the bond issue proceeds.
Council considers a complex milk regulation ordinance with third reading as health board powers and city health safeguards are debated. A joint meeting with the Board of Health is planned, and a report will come at the next session.
Three Coshocton youths Gan Hirtoian Roy Ordway and Bardlake departed Monday to travel and will be away for several weeks. Rumors of running away were denied by two parents who say their sons left with consent and plan to visit Columbus then the West while their factory jobs at home will be kept open for the girl.
Seventeen year old Stacey Henry suffers severe pain from a fish hook embedded in his nose. He refuses chloroform or any aid to ease removal, prompting doctors to plan home anesthesia before extracting the hook. The tale unfolds near the Wathouding canal as the hook punctured the nasal cartilage causing sharp injury.
Raleigh reports that North Carolina carried for state prohibition by a wide margin with estimates from 49.009 to 92.008 percent. The prohibition ticket won in 78 of 99 counties by majorities near 43,500. The anti prohibition ticket carried 94 counties by majorities around 8,008.
The Buckeye Gas and Power Company replies to Roscoe villagers demanding tapping of main gas lines. It says the town must organize and incorporate as a company to receive fuel on the same basis as Coshocton. A June 2 meeting will hear the committee report and discuss attorney Glenn’s opinion on tapping rights.
A metal saw hidden within City prison was found after Shaffer attempted to cut through a bar and escape through a window. The tool, described as a long slender high temper metal in a heavy frame, was concealed behind a relying plank in a corner. Guards searched inmates before transfer. the saw is kept at the hall for reference.

The selection supports candidate for elevst Judge nomination and aligns with Jones’ delegation plan.
The Coshocton school children raised funds for a memorial and for Memorial Day tags. Superintendent Bryant reported the finding to this effect.
