Creamer's Plan Elevates State Deposits Policy
Ohio bankers at the state convention backed a flat interest rate with even fund distribution among qualifying banks. No bank could receive deposits exceeding one third of its paid up capital. Treasurer Creamer, defeating Green, rejected competitive bids, boosting income by about $1,000 weekly and broadening deposits to smaller banks, reducing flows to speculative centers. The public may distrust any Republican legislature seeking to change this.
