Probable Fatal Shock In Electrical Accident At Local Plant
Fred Smythe, a lineman for Merchants' Light, Heat & Power, was shocked by a live wire on the company building on Fourth Street. He slid down the roof about 40 feet and fell 15 feet to the ground, jaw fractured, skull suspected, 1090 volts in the line. He is unconscious at John Struble’s residence. his wife has been alerted. Doctors say the outcome is uncertain.

A farmer’s son and ordained minister, Stevens rose from district schooling to a teaching certificate at 15 and later to Dennison High School, Port Washington superintendent, law study with T D Telea, and admission to the bar in 1889. Republicans of the Seventeenth district hail him as a capable candidate for Congress, a lawyer and eloquent speaker who would defend workers and all people with independent judgment and steady care for every interest of the district.

Child Drowns in Canal Tragedy Near Home
A two year old girl fell from a canal bank into the Gittal b Rovers canal on a Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors Mrs Jeunk and Mrs Finnell rescued the mother and called Dr Henderson. the child was dead on arrival. Funeral services were held at 1:30 today and interment followed in Rose cemetery. Three months earlier Thos Funnel, son of Mr and Mrs John Funnel, died in a similar incident nearby.
