Metropolitan reminiscences along Franklin Square and bridges
A nostalgic tour recounts Franklin Square near the Brooklyn Bridge, noting past residents of the area, the Lovers Bridge, and nearby landmarks. It contrasts old gardens with modern developments, sketches figures like Jerry McAuley and William E Dodge, and surveys nearby Harper offices, the Police Gazette, and trade life. The piece wanders through urban change, stock market chatter, local anecdotes, and brief historical curiosities.
