Washington reports cabinet discussions on the Panama canal bond issue and a 100 million certificate offering. Treasury officials, citing likely oversubscriptions, weigh whether new certificates may count as bank reserves and how this affects reserves under current law and practice.
From Montgomery on November 20, unprecedented scenes filled the Alabama senate chamber as the statutory prohibition bill passed. Spectators, including women and children, crowded corridors and cheered. opposition was hissed down and Lt Governor Gray urged decorum. The bill, a compromise, delays whisky prohibition until January 3, 190%, and moves to the house for formal approval with Governor Comer expected to sign amid temperance activism.
The state league of Republican clubs met at the Neil house to set a date and venue for its annual meeting. They passed resolutions disavowing efforts to eliminate Joseph B. Foraker over rate bill statehood bill and Brownsville issues and expressed full confidence in his Senate record. The league backs his pre election as senator and endorses him as the Republican candidate for president next year.
The Third district of the Ohio Independent Telephone association meets in the chamber of commerce rooms in Zanesville at 2 p.m. Delegates and visitors, about 100, hear prominent speakers from Columbus Canton Mt. Vernon and other cities on service matters. Members elect officers and pick 23 delegates for the Chicago international meeting.
Marcus Cohen, a bright eighth grader from Coshocton, was injured in an accident and taken to Cleveland for treatment. Doctors offered little about his prognosis as his father returned home with news of a possible recovery but not certainty. Schoolmates and the Coshocton community hope he will pull through to regain his health.

Florence Geh hart a tobacco worker formerly of Columbus attempted suicide by morphine overdose while at work in Dayton. She will recover. Representative Ralph Cole and bride arrived in Washington today. Cole is very popular here.

Norwalk reports John Farrer, an engineer at the Heyman flouring mills in Mourneville, died this morning from heart failure while at work. Local officials called the death sudden and unexpected. no further details were available.
Mrs A Rosner of Goodhue Minnesota has given birth to her sixth set of twins, reaching a total of 25 children. The Telegraph dispatch notes the 1898 context and identifies the woman as the mother of 25.
New York reports twenty five million dollars will be paid by First National Bank J P Morgan Co The City Bank and others to the U S Treasury to buy three per cent certificates before banks close This shows big bankers confidence in the administration plan to relieve currency Reports say large sums are sent to the sub treasury for bonds and that certificates will be created mainly for crop distress News notes bonds are being received from many cities.
Senator Rowe reported progress on rebuilding the canal from Cleveland to Akron with a plan to place new boats in service next spring. The project aims to complete the Symmes Creation dam below Dresden within a year, opening the waterway from the Great Lakes to the Ohio river via the Muskingum and Olio rivers to public use.
Mrs Velarah Lear widow of Stephen Lear dies at her son Thomas Lear's home on North Tenth street after a third stroke. Born in Monmouthshire, she came to America in 1847, lived in Frostburg and Coshocton, widow of Stephen Lear, mother of Thomas Lear Henry Lear and Mrs Charlotte Carlisle, with thirteen grandchildren. Funeral at 2 pm Friday at the son's home conducted by Rev Robertson, interment Oak Ridge cemetery.
