An Oshkosh saloonist denounces slot machines as unsavory profit grabbers and urges the mayor to ban them. The City Solicitor cites Section 156 of the city code defining gambling devices as a misdemeanor with fines from five to thirty dollars.
A Havana report says a commission found evidence implicating several prominent figures in a plot involving arms and ammo from the United States. Officials describe planned attacks on the Havana palace and possible assassination of President Palma, with guards increased and troops deployed to suspected origins of the conspiracy.
A hunter on Saturday near Dennison, east of town, injured or killed a calf owned by Mr Oliver-Dennison. The report notes the hunter, described as possibly seeking rabbits or quail, was seen on Joan W. Oliver’s grounds. Police seek details.
In Cleveland on November 21 the Great Western Oil Co filed a defense in common pleas court responding to a suit by Annie E. Walsh as guardian for insane Michael J. Walsh. The action seeks an examination of company books over 250 shares held by Walsh. the firm accuses rival Standard Oil of conspiring to obtain its affairs data, naming Fred W. Lotham, longtime Standard Oil employee, as examiner.

A Monday night break in at the C A and C railroad freight house in Cooperdale netted thieves about seven dollars worth of merchandise including dry goods and canned goods intended for S F Chaney a West Carlisle merchant. Local authorities have a clue and have sent for Pennsylvania detectives expected this afternoon. Arrests may follow and a sensation is promised.
The Salvation Army completed the purchase of the old Episcopal church property on North Third Street by paying 1500 dollars to the vestry. Adjutant Brindley and officers in New York authorized the deal after a 30 day review. Possession is official January 1 with plans to remodel for a new front, quarters for the commander and family, and a fine meeting hall.

The Episcopal church might acquire the Robertson corner property and its vestry members favor widening the street and collaborating with council and the board.
In Pittsburg on November 21 a long AFL convention floor fight ends with steamfitters narrowly winning a charter over the plumbers union. The vote favors independence by a 2 to 1 margin after years of bitter conflict between the two trades over organizational control.
