Mrs. Mary Compton widow of Stephen Compton died Saturday night after a week of illness with pneumonia at about seventy. She was known across Coshocton county and leaves six children, Edward Early of Indiana, Mrs. Fassett, Mrs. Charles Wood, William and Ward Compton. Funeral at her home Tuesday at 1 pm with burial in Dresden.

Avondale Schools Hold Their Annual Commencement
The Avondale village held its annual commencement at M. P. church with a crowded turnout. Graduates were Mabel Park Mabel Leavengood Edith Dilney Robert Hamilton and Orville Park. Prof Wolf of West Lafayette college gave the class address. Memorial day oration will be by Rev George Rinesberger at 2 PM May 20 in the Baptist church. Mrs Amelia Banks age 64 died Monday at Bridge street home after long illness dropsy funeral Wednesday at 1 PM Oak Ridge cemetery.

Arm Injured When Horse-Kick Throws Buggy Into Canal
Mrs. J. H. Hosick of the B. W. Adams farm near Keene suffered a broken right arm in two places when a horse kicked during a return from a Plainfield visit. The buggy and horse rolled into a canal. Hosick’s arm was treated by Dr. Yarnell and she was later homebound. The boy sustained minor leg bruises and Mr. Hosick escaped unharmed.

Mystery surrounds runaway bike wagon accident near Tuscarawas river
Frank Baumgardner and Miss Mac Cleary were involved in an evening mishap near the Tuscarawas river bridge. They rode Earnest Eckert's bike wagon with a centre horse. the wagon vanished later and was found damaged with bent shafts and deep scratches on the horse. Eckert suspects a race collision. Baumgardner denies it, claiming a wheel came off the wagon.

Showers of stones fall on trolleys in Bridgeport riot
In Bridgeport on May 18 a riot disrupted six trolley cars operated by the Connecticut Railway and Lighting Co. A mob of about 1,000 attacked the cars, stone throwing wounded 32, Mayor Mulvihill was struck, sheriffs fired five shots in the air, and firemen sprayed water to disperse the crowd.

Gravel slide buries two workers near Avondale
Napoleon Lain of Toledo and John Everts of Oak Harbor were buried by a gravel slide while laying a sewer pipe under Wheeling & Lake Erie tracks at White Eyes curve near Avondale. They were dug out, taken to Avondale, a physician summoned, and both escaped with only minor bruises.
