William Humrickhouse known as Major died Saturday morning at his Mulberry Street home after six days of paralysis. Born in Brownsville Pennsylvania June 29 1880 he lived in Coshocton most of his life and was a respected jurist and surveyor. He never married and had a warm sympathetic nature with many friends. Funeral services were held Monday at his residence and he was buried in Oak Ridge cemetery. The notice also mentions local church events and a factory visit by Coshocton merchants.
In Common Pleas Court this week Elmer Fry pleaded guilty to burglary involving stolen meat and received a one year term at the Ohio Penitentiary. Bush pleaded guilty to concealing stolen property and was fined ten dollars. James Barnes had a charge of malicious destruction of property against Mohawk Village church continued. Jury was dismissed.
Jacob Cutshall, aged 83 or 183 due to OCR error, died Saturday in Avondale after Bright's disease. A Civil War veteran, he served in Co D Stat Regt O V V 1 and belonged to Fidelity Lodge 185 Knights of Pythias. Survived by wife and five children. funeral Sunday at 1 pm at OU PL church Avondale with Knights in attendance.
A joint conference between coal miners and Ohio operators in Columbus last Friday failed to resolve wage terms for 1804.5. Miners sought advances while operators pressed for reductions, about twenty cents per ton. Agreement was not reached. work will suspend until a new conference is demanded, with no timetable set. The dispute risks a repeat of last year’s prolonged industry-wide upheaval.
