Revolutionists gain strength in San Domingo and widen vanquished territory as banners of Erin's green isle float in the breeze of victory.
From Monte Christi Santo Domingo advices say Wes y Gil and followers control San Domingo city. Ministers Pichardo and Sanchez surrendered to revolutionists. Revoltists hold two of three war vessels the Independenceia cruiser and Colon gunboat. Vasquez sails the Presidente toward Sanchez to attack with Hernandez. Echenique dies of wounds. Castillo alive with a wound. Skirmishes ignite ammo and provisions loss. roughly 20 government soldiers killed, many wounded.
J C Fremont claimed to Congressman Tawney that a project to seize and ransom Secretary Shaw Secretary Root and Attorney General Knox was discussed in the West. Fremont alleged an abortive plan to kill President Roosevelt and said plotters now aim to hold cabinet members in a mountain fortress for ransom.
Hon J P Forbes received a hand built Winton touring car from Cleveland on a Wednesday. The five seat vehicle can reach speeds up to sixty miles per hour and was described as suitable for use in public service or personal travel.
Trenton reports merger filings uniting American Steel Switch, National Steel, and Carnegie into The National Steel with 66 million dollars in capital, totaling 252 million for the combined concerns. Directors from Pittsburgh include Schwab and Corey. W E Corey becomes president. The move signals broader U S corporate consolidation with departments formed under a single parent, promising capital tax savings.

Lewis Reiss of Big Run was seriously injured in a wagon runaway after a lecture at Killbuck. The wagon tongue broke on a steep hill, throwing him from the wagon. three ribs were broken and he sustained head injuries. His wife Mrs Belsa escaped with minor injuries and assisted him until dawn. A Samaritan later transported him home for medical care.
United States Consul General Gowdy located Moses Fowler Chase of Lafayette Indiana in a private sanitarium after a years long search. French doctors declared him incurably insane. The asylum handed Chase to Gowdy with authorization from Secretary Hay to act as guardian, with French courts to appoint a guardian.
The government unveiled its long awaited Irish land bill in the house of commons proposing a free grant of 60 million dollars for the scheme. Tenants would pay 3 percent interest on advances, with total lending up to 750 million dollars. sales of untenanted lands go to neighboring tenants under estate commissioners. The bill, effective November, receives mixed reception from Irish leaders and Liberal critics amid turbulent scenes.
Buffalo, March 26 The executive board of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Iron Workers decided to ask the employers to appoint a committee to confer with worker representatives. They aim to adopt a plan of arbitration and a trade agreement to settle current strikes and prevent future lockouts. The employers’ group is the National Association of Structural Steel and Iron Erectors.
