Climaxed Bout Draws Nelson McGovern in Philadelphia
In Philadelphia on March 15 a crowd of about five thousand watched Battling Nelson of Chicago and Terry McGovern of Brooklyn fight to a draw after a slow start. Nelson pressed early and used a straight left, while McGovern countered with hard blows that lacked impact. The bout heated in round three and McGovern suffered a slip in round five, with Nelson landing a decisive left to the jaw before the climax of clinches. No official decision was rendered as both fighters remained on their feet. Separately, the Colorado Tests and Mexico Railroad was chartered to build a 2,500 mile line from Cheyenne to Corpus Christi with branches into Mexico, capitalized at 75 million dollars, listing Mangum as a key base and naming Morris R. Locke and several Mangum directors.
