A City Council meeting approved a plan to build a 10 inch tile sewer along Main Street from east of Park Avenue to the Muckingum river to drain sewage not surface water. Keene Fourth Picnic Arts and School News Mark Day
Keene held a large Fourth of July picnic in the Keene Presbyterian grove with neighbors from Spring Mountain Canal Lewisville Rosca Willow Brook Avondale Shones and other areas. A comet band performed then a musical and literary program by the Keene Epworth League and visiting societies. Prof J W Helter of Gnadenbutten D taught the coming winter at the high school. The Ladies Aid Society and Epworth League sponsored the event, receipts totaling 10.20. In the evening Spring Mountain League presented Aunt Hannah's Cuiting Party with notable performances and a Mocking Bird violin solo by Wayre Clinage. Ice cream cake and lemonade followed, and Spring Mountain guests received a warm Keene welcome. The local office notes new printing equipment and invites orders.

Protection and Free Trade Locomotives to Clash in Planned Rail Show
Citizens gathered Wednesday as two old locomotives named Protection and Free Trade prepared for a staged collision on the C. C. & B. Railway near Canton on July 20. Each engine weighs about 16 40 tons and will move at a mile a minute to dramatize the drill. A fire in a nearby house caused by Kinney family living near the Electric Light Hous e left the structure badly damaged with no insurance on goods. The Republican Executive Committee of the county met last Monday and elected officers: George A. Hay, Chairman. C. B. McCoy, Secretary. Robert Boyd, Treasurer. A purse was reported lost at the Ohio Penitentiary and other notices for lost items and help wanted appeared in the paper.
