West Carlisle hunter S G Divon told friend A J Shepler of a fox chase Saturday morning. A fox started in the western county with dogs on the trail. The fox circled fifteen miles into Licking and adjacent land, starting in the morning and ending in the afternoon.
Judge Eason adjourned court after Kinney sentence, kinney motion for new trial noted, but no final sentence recorded. Infirmary directors met. Rachel Miller filed for divorce and child custody against Thomas Miller after twenty years of marriage. Market report shows scarce turkeys, 20 cent dressed, 16 cent live. other poultry and butter prices listed.
Everett Preston once in charge of Cooperdale schools has resigned there and accepted a professorship in Plainfield. A rising young educator, he will strengthen the Plainfield schools amid their reform efforts. Also a brief health ad touts King’s Life-Pills with testimonials and local store availability.
On Monday January 1 Coshocton completes a political turnover with Mayor Rinner leaving office and Mayor elect W A Smith assuming command. Dr Stacy becomes council president with St Clair Fleming Lawrence and Temple as members. Richard Darnes will be treasurer succeeding George Ayres and Levi Williams named city solicitor. Howard Hahn retires from the board of public service with Henry Richardson replacing John Shaw. Officials by appointment remain uncertain until the new administration settles in.
A new corporation named Sugar Creek and Northern Railroad Company of Cleveland is incorporated under Ohio laws with capital of 310000. Incorporators are Cleveland parties. The line will run from Bolivar in Tuscarawas County to Elyria or Lorain, powered by steam.
The village council of West Lafayette granted a franchise to the Z. Co. é N. P. trolley line at its meeting Friday night. The franchise matches the Coshocton council grant. Newcomerstown franchise will come up next year under a new council, nearly completing the line and allowing the road to begin business. Walker & Lawrence advertise “A Good place to buy Good Shoes.”
The notice reports Mrs Emma Lower, wife of C F Lower, died at her New Bedford home on Saturday morning from appendicitis after a week of illness. Funeral set for Monday at 10 in the Reform church with Rev F E Lohr officiating. Also mentions a New Year skating event and a New Baby List for Mr and Mrs Will Hamaster of Columbus.
