Dennis B Taft a 70 year old stranger died after stepping in front of a moving train in Sherman Texas He had registered at a local hotel as Dennis B Taft and left a letter to the coroner saying he was a convert of Professor Osler The Age telegraph report notes no prior residence and identifies Taft as a visitor who traveled to Sherman recently for unknown reasons

Fingers In Press Crush At Meek Company Plant

William Lockard an employee at the Meek company suffered a crush injury when his left middle and ring fingers were caught in a die press at the lower factory around ten oclock Friday morning. He was treated at Dr McClains office and it is hoped both digits can be saved. He resides on South Sixth street.

Third Murder Stirs Newark in Strike Clash

The third death from the Wehrle stove works strike at Newark Ga., where 300 metal polishers walked out last July. Homer Loar 35 of Hanover C., was shot and killed in a Thursday night fight with 15 to 20 strikers as about equal number of shots rang out. Strikers dispersed. no injuries to assailants confirmed. Loar leaves a widow and two children.

Philippine Railway Bids Rejected for 12 Routes

Washington reports all bids for railway contracts in the Philippine Islands were rejected due to departures from the circular terms. Secretary Taft with officials decided to readvertise and set January 20 at 10 a.m. for new bid openings.

Death of Mrs. Jane Mitchell Ties Coshocton Ties to Mansfield

Mrs. Jane Mitchell, aged 70, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. George W. Welter in Columbus. The funeral was held in Mansfield on Friday. Mitchell had many Coshocton friends and had lived with Mrs Welter when the family resided there.
