The Fresno Farmers Institute opened Monday in Labin's opera house and closed Tuesday evening after lively sessions. Mesars G C Householder of Wood County and EB Scott of Jefferson lectured under the State Board of Culture. General Lybarger spoke on Good Roads. Officers elected include President Lahm, Vice President Keesey, Secretary Geese, Treasurer Ewing, with McCrea, Boyd and Powell on the executive committee. The village orchestra entertained attendees throughout and the event drew strong local participation.
A cultivated pearl weighing about 0.84 carat from Wakatomika Creek near the Trinway area is valued at about 36 dollars. G. L. Chaney of Trinway brought the pearl to C. D. Brooks’s jewelry store for mounting in a ring after being found by A. L. Goff weeks earlier in a common mussel shell.
