The Stranger Hunter Turns Robber Then Banker’s Blackmail

In autumn 1817 a lone traveler is waylaid in western New York by a hunter-like man with a rifle. The robber robs the traveler then vanishes. Thirty years later in New York, banker Stephen Edwards is pressed by a letter demanding payment to avoid exposure of a past murder. A dramatic confrontation reveals the banker's guilt and the avenger’s concealed identity, Philip Sidney, and a joint moral reckoning leads to restitution and renewed purpose.
