Woman Wins $2060 Verdict in Railroad Injury Case

Clara Worrell sued Louisville and Southern Indiana Traction Co for injuries from a coach explosion in Jeffersonville. Jury awarded $2060 after a May term trial. earlier jury could not agree. Attorneys included Geo W Hester for plaintiff and Charles Kelso for defense. A motion for new trial may lead to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Woman Sues for 10000 Damages After Street Excavation

Mrs. Mary Thornton acting through Judge Alexander Dowling sues in Floyd Circuit Court New Albany for 10000 alleging a July 7 1906 fall into an unlit street excavation at East Fifteenth and Spring streets caused permanent injuries and disabling harm attributed to negligence by New Albany Street Railway Company Barber Asphalt Company and the City of New Albany.

Death of Jacob Vogt in Webster Township

Jacob Vogt died at his home in Webster township Tuesday night after seven weeks ill with typhoid fever. Funeral Thursday at St. Peter's church, burial in the church cemetery. He was 48, leaving a wife and three children. A respected citizen and former Webster township trustee for four years.

Ollie Shrigley Acquitted in Horse Theft Trial

Ollie Shrigley of Scott township was acquitted in the Tarrison circuit court after a jury failed to reach a verdict in a previous term. Hannel reported a black mare stolen from his stable about a year earlier. the mare later appeared with Shrigley in Spencer county. He claimed to have bought the horse from a man in Crawford county.

Thirteen year old Ray Stevens of near town was injured when a barrel on his wagon rolled off after hitting a rock. He was thrown to the ground, rupturing a blood vessel in an eye and injuring a bone in an arm.

Men Plead Guilty In Harrison Court For Nuisance

Alonzo Elkins Ferd McMonigta of New Albany and Lee iuily now of Posey township pleaded guilty in Harrison Circuit Court to maintaining a nuisance by running a blind tiger at Market and Walnut streets. They were fined $10 each plus costs for operating a restaurant and selling intoxicants over several months. The offense carries a fine from $10 to 3500.
