Corydon's New Brick School Building

Corydon's graded school built with twelve rooms a gymnasium and auditorium. The 102 by 87 foot brick structure cost about 37000 dollars and began term September 6 1915. Architect A W Morrow contractor J Fred Beggs and superintendent C H Shirley led the project with modern heating ventilation and extensive facilities for agriculture domestic science manual training and music.

Little Frances Kelso Saves Little Margaret Bulleit

A ten year old girl, Frances Kelso, daughter of Charles D Kelso, rescued her playmate Margaret Bulleit, daughter of Walter W Bulleit, from drowning in the New Albany Water Company reservoir on Silver Hills. Frances seized Margaret and pulled her to shore. both children suffered no ill effects after the incident.

School Staff Assignments and Auditorium Fund Mentioned

Old Liberty Bell on tour stops in Louisville

The Old Liberty Bell, famed for announcing Independence, travels from San Francisco to Philadelphia and will visit St Louis Indianapolis Louisville Cincinnati Hamilton Dayton Xenia Columbus on November 21 and 22. Crowds are urged to see the relic as it moves through Harrison County residents are encouraged to attend in Louisville.

Old Settlers Meeting Date Shifts to October 2 at Corydon

The Old Settlers' Association announces the Corydon gathering moved from September 25 to Saturday October 2. Officials promise an engaging program of messages and speeches for county elders and urge all residents to attend, visit old friends, and enjoy the day.

The old Eggleston schoolhouse in Vevay Indiana was partly destroyed by fire last Wednesday. A historic site tied to Edward Eggleston author of Hoosier Schoolmaster, it has overlooked as a chief point of Southeastern Indiana history for decades.
