The first session of the Lecture Course at Moo Church drew a fair audience. Hon. Joseph G Camp of Georgia delivered The American King, praised as a lecture of profound thought and vibrant rhetoric. The Rochester Ind Sentinel lauded his oratory, patriotism, and delivery, calling him a rare, incorruptible man who urged civic righteousness and the intelligent ballot.
Celestian Simon has improved after stomach trouble while Salina Henriot also shows improvement. School progress remains steady under Beard II. Julius Vaughn sold his farm south of town to Milt Smith. Henrich and Joseph Mathey visited Martin Henrich at Georgetown.
Mrs I B Hunt of Lime Ridge Wisconsin credits Electric Bitters with a sudden miraculous recovery from a severe stomach and liver illness after doctors had given up. John B Crayden of Ramsey died the evening of the 15th from catarrh of the stomach after a two week illness. He leaves a widow and three children, brothers George Eli Frank and Lewis Crayden, sisters Maggie Flock and Mary Davis, and an aunt Mrs Phebe Jenkins. He served as trustee, justice of the peace, and notary public, and was active in the Methodist church and Odd Fellows. Funeral held yesterday at U S church near Crandall with Rev Morgan delivering the sermon. burial at Bethlehem cemetery.

It advertises $18 to $24 per acre farms near railroad towns and depots, bank collection service, and a possible $3.25 round trip rate from Louisville. Kellertown notes show E R Wynn and family fixing for winter. Dora Cline is improving after a broken leg. Grandfather Wynn returned home from a two week Washington county visit. Ora Cline is on the sick list. A local crowd attended Keller's big opening last week. J M Wynn got a letter from a soldier in the Philippines mentioning cool nights and unsafe conditions amid uncivilized natives. he says guards are needed for Americans.
A group of Corydon Republicans selected a town ticket last Friday. Candidates include Clerk A. L. Reynolds and Treasurer A. G. Ward. Trustees by ward: 1st Fred Winkler, 2nd Henry Black, 3rd Charles Martin, 4th Victor Wright, 5th Eliphalet Hickman.
An advertisement touts One Minute Cough Cure as a remedy for coughs colds and pulmonary complaints claiming it clears the phlegm reduces inflammation heals and soothes affected parts strengthens the lungs and wards off pneumonia. The text notes the medicine is harmless and pleasant and sold by all druggists.
Frank Ashby of Madison Indiana arrived at the Indiana Reformatory to serve from one to fourteen years for petit larceny. Judge Hiram Francisco added eleven years due to a prior October thirty first conviction described as a confirmed chicken thief. Ashby robbed William Stewart's Marble Hill hen-house on September 12 and stole twenty five chickens valued at twelve dollars and the fowls to market, plus a john burat valued at eight dollars. He was arrested in Madison after following to Louisville and was taken to Madison for trial.
Hursttown Mrs Henry Frederick is very ill with pneumonia. Mrs Maud Allen has chills. Lawrence Wright from Columbus Indiana visited home folks Saturday and Sunday. Miss Sallie Juebbeman has returned home after helping her brother in Nobl County. Born to Mr and Mrs Andrew Jones a son. Walter Wright returned home after staying near Greenville. David Winn moves to New Albany for a new job. Our school progresses well under Ed Damon. Mr and Mrs Charles Ard have moved to Louisville. Miss Minnie Wright of Argenta Illinois visiting relatives here has returned home. Miss Anna and Maud Wright visited Corydon recently. Fay Wright visiting his sister near Greenville has returned home.
Wheat sowing nearly finished and schools started in the township. Ben Richard is quite low. Bessie Beanblossom has typhoid fever. Several locals attended Mrs Mollie Anderson’s funeral at Mauckport. Neely and relatives visited Lull Beanblossom. Mary Watson visits Corydon relatives. Grandma Smith and Mrs Bland reported as before. Bob Richard George Dooly Reagan and others mentioned in local notes.
FW Devor & Co New York and Chicago write to Walter Glenn Corydon Indiana urging mutual faith and cooperation in business. The letter emphasizes saving customers money by using their paint to prevent rot and rust and extends the claim that their plants confer longer lasting results. Lotich & Barbee distribute their paint.

Mrs Mary E F Heth widow of Willis G Heth longtime town marshal died at her home on West Market and Lafayette Streets New Albany after heart disease. She was 63 and survived by one daughter Mrs Thomas Murdock of New Albany with several other children, all but Mrs Murdock having predeceased her. After her husband’s death she moved to New Albany and kept a hotel. Funeral services at the Christian church conducted by Elder S B Nye and John H Heth, burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Moberly reports farmers delayed sowing wheat due to Lirain weather. Rose Davis heads to Greaycastle for a course in Justice. Ket Watson of Nebraska and Curis Watson of Corydon visited Ed L Watson and family. Sallie Pitman teaches at Spencer township and visited home over the weekend. Aunt Julian London travels to see son Chas London and family in South Corsdon. Jasper Davis and family and Ed L Watson attend a Holiness meeting at Oak Grove last Wednesday. Minnie Harmon is reported quite low.
A noon Saturday barn fire at John Windell's Washington township farm destroyed a barn and its contents including about twenty two tons of hay seventy bushels of wheat and farm machinery such as a corn shredder. Mrs Amy and family slept through the blaze and had difficulty saving the horses. Loss is about $1 200 with $500 insured on the building and additional insurance on the contents.
James Bean blossom and Lee Wolfe of Mauckport quarreled over a girl from Heth township. They met in Flora's store and fought on the sidewalk. Wolfe was the loser after a brief bout of a few rounds, leaving the outcome with the girl unresolved.
Major J S Pfrimmer will open a corn school at the No 10 school house Franklin Township next Saturday evening. The public is invited. He will share long study and research on corn culture and is described as an authority with a proven track record in producing corn.
The Cumberland Telephone and Telegraph Co reports September results with 182 125 subscribers at month start, 4 284 added, 2 517 discontinued, and a net increase. The figures illustrate growth in the subscriber base for the period.

It notes Miss Wadean Seig visiting New Albany and Louisville.
Mrs. Martha Deatrick widow of Frank Deatrick of Posey township died at home last Wednesday from heart disease after a brief illness. She was sixty, and survived by her husband and six children. Funeral held at Elizabeth on Friday with interment following, the ceremony led by Rev. McCuol of the Catholic church.
Bridgeport residents report visits among families in nearby towns. D T Carter sufers pleurodenia, John F Wheeler and kin visited New Albany relatives, Ning Bowman clan visited Shuck's Corners, and a child of Philip Bell was buried at Antioc cemetery. Several others spent weekends visiting, hosting a surprise party for Mrs Edna Curnick with social games.
Judge Alexander Dowling and Col Charles L. Jewett argued before the Indiana Supreme Court in the State v Sutherlin case. The appeal challenges the grand jury indictment issued last January following Judge Utz of the Circuit Court. Jewett for the prosecution and Dowling for the defense, no decision expected until late next week.
Z. Pearidge reports Philip C. Miller will auction his personal property in the spring before moving to East St. Louis to take a job with the Southern Railway. Locomotive freemen candidates Free W Munzer and Franklin H Munzer seek positions on the Gran. Trook & Western Railway at Trinidad, Colorado, while trying to rent their farm.
Mr and Mrs Jackson Bottortt and Mrs Sophia Long of Charlestown Ind visit relatives in the county. The Bottortts and Mrs Long are siblings of L D Bottortt west of town. The eight family members range from seventy to about ninety years old.
