County Treasurer O Connor and the senior editor compare the Kentucky State Fair in Lexington unfavorably with Corydon Indiana. The visit highlights Haggin Farm near Lexington owned by J B Haggin, famed for Thoroughbred horses, with 1000 horses, grand estates, and a vast operation costing millions. The piece notes local bluegrass soil, landscape, and rail access, praising Haggin as a king of the farm. The authors also claim Hoosier women outshine Lexington women in a lighthearted dig.
Secretary Harry of the state board of health reports August statistics show a material rise in typhoid fever cases versus last year with 3070 deaths and a forecast of higher Septembers and Octobers. Infant deaths reached 665 under one year, while tuberculosis, pneumonia, diarrheal diseases, and cancer also appear in the tally. Dr. Hurty cites about 1300 typhoid cases for August.
A corps of surveyors from the Springdale Association of New York has worked days surveying a steam railroad route from Jeffersonville to Evansville. The line crosses the Southern between Georgetown and Edwardsville, enters Franklin township, passes through Franklin Harrison and Scott townships, near Wyandotte Cave. The party camps near Nevin and will move to Wyandotte Cave soon.
Law states no hunting of any game from October 1 to November 10, except waterfowl. Violations incur a fine of five to fifty dollars per offense, with each day of violation counting as a separate offense.
Ollie Shrigley of Scott township is jailed on a charge of stealing Michael Hannel Jr.s horse. Hannel reported a black mare vanished from his Scott township stable. Investigations traced the horse to Shrigley in Spencer county where he was found with a traveling show. Hannel and Capt. Avery recovered the animal and returned it to the owner. Shrigley claims he bought the horse in Crawford county. He is about 28 and from a respected family. his father Poke Shrigley is noted in the community. Shrigley served in the regular army and has spent limited time at home recently.
Rev H J Black led the opening service of the conference year at Corydon M E Church. He traced the church history, noting a total membership of three million souls and about 30 bishops, with only about half active. Indiana Conference covers Southern Indiana with 90 000 members and 263 preachers. Black begins his fourth year in Corydon after arriving three years ago.

The State Conference of Charities and Correction schedules a meeting in Vincennes October 28 to 31 with a one fare plus twenty five cents round trip rail rate for attendees. Certificates of identification are required and available from Amos W. Butler or C. B. Kessinger. Governor Hanley and other officials plan to attend. sessions include speeches by Lt. Gov. Miller and George L. Sehon and visits to local institutions.
The fall convention of the Christian churches in Indiana's 14th District will meet today and tomorrow at Central Christian church in New Albany. Delegates from Harrison Floyd Crawford Washington Clark Scott and Jennings counties will attend along with state and national society officers. Local attendees include Rev. Fred Grimes Mrs Lockhart and daughters Mame and Nettie Mrs S K Jones Miss Rose Keller and Nancy Benton. Grimes Jones and Lockhart have program parts.

Newly married couples John Redick Jr and Miss Clara Ackley receive gifts and host receptions while Miss Ackley weds Marcell Mature in Louisville. Community members report illnesses and moves with small-town details.
The Consolidated Producers Oil Company of Louisville struck a 100 barrel well at 822 feet in Cumberland County Kentucky. Deeper sand than prior finds, oil shows in enduring quantities, and rigs rise for further drilling nearby. Corydon citizens own stock and expect price gains as developments continue. Early next week the Rev. John Poucher presiding elder of the New Albany district will travel to Washington. He carries letters from Senator Beveridge and aims to study Government departments to better equip his ministerial services.

Young folks attend Eustas-Falner wedding at nearby Catholic church on the 26th.
The season opener between Corydon and Jeffersonville High School teams is set for next Saturday at 1 30 PM with admission 25 and 15 cents. Both squads are in better shape than last year and the game is expected to be fast paced.
Nellie Jackson age 17 daughter of Jonathan Jackson of Blue River township died on the 2nd of the month from typhoid fever after a two week illness. Funeral was held yesterday from the M E Church at Hancock. She was a member of the Methodist church and beloved by acquaintances.
Announcement states The State Eye Specialists will be at W. H. Dav is Drug Store for ten days to offer free eye examinations and consultations for those having trouble with eyes or glasses. This is their second visit to the area.
At close of business October 2, 1905 the Corydon National Bank assets, successor to the Bank of Corydon, totaled 598282.10, up 101876.19 since July 1 1905. Marriage license notices list Daniel E Wiseman with Susanah B Best Chas A Butterfield with Nellie M Sieg and Jesse Kitterman with Maud M Farish.
