Last Sunday at three o'clock a large barn belonging to John Wein in Blue River township burned down. The blaze consumed the barn and its contents including five horses two cattle and about two hundred bushels of wheat. Insurance was only two hundred dollars. The cause remains unknown.
Mrs. Carrie Hays hosts a pie supper at Central School in Heth township on the night of November 29. A cake will be voted to the most popular young lady present.
Burials supplies will be stocked by C P weavers and Ed Adams at Imsey with a new hearse and up to date equipment. A line of goods will be kept at Corydon Junction Crandall and Moberly. Major J S Pfrimmer taught Farmers Institute work in Crawford county last week and will attend meetings in Vanderburg county in about two weeks.
Thanksgiving Bay will close on Thanksgiving Day from 10 30 a to 1 30 pm. The W A Kenurn Co. remains the local business authority and schedule.
A vintage ad touts Dr King s New Life Pills as a remedy for indigestion constipation and related ailments. It claims prompt relief and digestive system support available at L A Rielys Son s drug store for 25 cents.
The countywide farmers institutes draw large crowds in Crandall with W M Stewart of Madison and Miss M Mather of Normal instructing on forage crops soil improvement and kitchen equipment. Residents host a noon banquet and elect county and township officers. A Palmyra session on corn and fodder features Major J S Pfrimmer. participation remains keen.
Local notes report residents recovering from illness and travel, new moves and plans. Barn building and repairs, pie suppers, wedding bells, and school fund charity are mentioned along with church revival plans and upcoming meetings. Bradford hosts multiple trades, shops, and community services.
William Kingsley of Boone township is dangerously ill with a complication of diseases. His condition is being closely watched by family and physicians as concern rises over his health.
The Ladies of the M. EB. church announce a Christmas sale on December 14 and 15. Proceeds support church activities and community missions.
Lafayette Douglass, a veteran and respected Boone township resident, died on the 19th from pneumonia fever at 66. He leaves eight children, including daughter Mrs Em Bruce, and his wife who died ten years ago. A Christian Church member, he will be buried Monday at Union Chapel and nearby cemetery.
A Chapin South Carolina editor reports a severe bilious attack kept him home two days. After failing to gain relief from a family physician, he took three Chamberlain’s Stomach and Liver Tablets and the next day felt renewed. Sold by C. R. Watson, successor to E. S. Crosier. nov.
Mrs J M Hoskins of Marion Ohio is in town for an extended visit.
The public is invited to an official report on Corydon National Bank as of November 9 showing resources up about 250000 in two and a half years. Cash exceeding 240000 highlights conservatism and strength. The bank seeks the patronage of all people wanting to do business with a big strong institution.
Straude Blake bought a house in Valparaiso while Miss Rosa Funkhouser visited the city and returned home. Moody Beenblossom made a flying trip to Plymouth. C. L. Arnick clerks in Lowenatine's store. T. H. Hays spent weekend near Wanatsh and Miss Edith Balenger visited Myrtle Simler and Nettie Miller. G. Simler looked for a location east of town. Several residents including Moody Beanblossom and J. D. Marsh are set to graduate in August 1905.
Roy Quinn of New Albany visited Wm. Turner on Sunday while James Humphrey from Louisville returned home. Protracted meetings draw local youths to Georgetown. Mr Line, formerly of Hardinsburg, moved to a farm bought from Andrew Engstrom. No. 9 school shows promise under Miss Katie Hausz. Robert Dalby and sister Georgia attend high school in Edwardsville. A No. 9 box supper Saturday night drew a large crowd with Edna Harmon named most popular girl and Grover Dewees named ugliest boy.
Election contest over Tay lor township trustee race ends with verdict for defendant William Russell. Opponent Joseph Fink alleged illegal votes. Commissioners dismissed petition and Fink appealed to circuit court. Judge Cook upheld prior ruling through the current term.
The ad touts Chamberlain s Cough Remedy as a reliable medicine to keep at home for immediate croup relief. It claims prevention if given when hoarseness begins and after the croupy cough appears, sold by C. R B Watson successor to B.S. Crasier.
