Narrow Escape From Raccoon Creek Flood
Capt Abraham Dyer of Corydon narrowly survived a fall from his horse in fast water at Woertz ford on Raccoon creek. The horse swam ashore while Dyer drifted about two hundred yards, grabbed a tree limb, and was rescued by Ben Lane with a rope. The 15 year old Mexican War veteran was revived at Mrs Woertz home and later returned home.

Death of John Mauck from lockjaw at Mill Site
John J. Mauck died at age 75 at the home of William Broeker near Corydon from lockjaw after nail injury in a foot ten days earlier. He leaves a wife two daughters and several siblings.
