Death of Hortense Stith in Corydon Area

The 22 year old Hortense Stith died May 15 after a two year tuberculosis illness at the family home near Corydon. Funeral services were held at the local colored church and burial followed at Keytesville cemetery. He, a Metropolis Street Railway motorman for 18 years, left a wife and family and was deeply mourned by friends and neighbors.

George W. Crawford died at home 2207 EH 19 St Kansas City Missouri on April 18 1918 after a seventeen month illness of dropsy He was 56 born February 17 1862 in Harrison County Indiana He was a member of the M E church I O O F Lodge and M W A Lodge Survived by wife Laurie three brothers Charles F Guy E and Lee and three sisters Laura Martha and Clara with many friends to mourn the loss

Corydon Faces Dual Fires In Water Works And Wagon Factory

Last Friday a fire at Corydon Water Works damaged the roof and pumping machinery while a separate blaze in the wagon factory shipping room was quickly controlled. Firefighters lacked hoses at the factory and no cause was confirmed, though authorities noted no foul play. Town officials issued a water-saving poster after the Water Works fire to aid pumping restoration.
