Trial of Allen Holyoke Begins in Circuit Court
The Harrison Circuit Court opened for May with Allen Holyoke charged in the George Baker robbery at Bry Jista two years prior. The jury was empaneled but witnesses were incomplete, postponing to May 8. Baker was gagged and forced to reveal hiding money, with reports of about $7,000 found on the premises. Walter Putman, linked to the same burglary, was convicted in September 1916 and sentenced to the reformatory for two to twenty-one years.
