Married at Parsonage in Posey Township

Lola Farnsley and Charles Baumgartle were married at the United Brethren parsonage near Corydon by Rev. M C Patterson. The couple, both from Posey township, visited New Albany after the ceremony. The bride wore blue satin. the groom dark brown. The bride’s sister Leona Farnsley and A I McClure attended. Thursday was the bride’s birthday. They will live with the groom’s parents in New Albany area for now.

Oldham Burnett sale advertised for March 22 near Tamsey

The Franklin township advisory board rejected bids Saturday for a joint Lanesville school building. Bids included Oscar Luther building 18500 dollars and Walter brothers 29342 for building plumbing and heating. Beeler plumbing and heating totals listed. Child Burned to Death in Mauckport Fire

Vonnie Jean Dean one year ten months old died when a kitchen fire in her home spread from a paper ceiling above the stove. Neely crawled through smoke to rescue her but she died before aid could reach her. The cottage home and contents were destroyed, funeral held at Mt Zion church. The child’s mother Maude Reanblosom and father Tullie Dean faced tragedy and public sympathy.

Death of well known citizen Pete Elbers in Lanesville

Peter Elbers aged 61 died at his home in Lanesville after a long illness. He was the town’s oldest native resident, survived by his wife and three children Leonard Loda and Mrs George Eisert. Funeral services were held at St Marys Catholic Church in Lanesville and burial followed in the parish cemetery. He had worked in Lanesville since youth and was well regarded locally.
