Local notices priced at 20 cents per line with a minimum charge of $1 per insertion. Yearly ads receive a liberal discount, but no notice under one square or less than $8 per year. Legal notices charged to the party or attorney filing the ad. if the attorney’s name is missing, the officer placing the ad is billed. Divorce suit notices for non residents require advance payment or security.
Arrearages must be paid and notices given to avoid discontinuance. No pauper will be removed without notice to the Publisher. Subscribers pay up to a fine if notice is issued and all arrears are cleared.
A critique challenges Secretary Boutwell’s six month debt reduction claims from Sept 1, 1869 to Mar 1, 1870. The piece accuses him of miscounting cash, “Special Fund” bonds, and Pacific Railroad obligations while asserting a large debt drop. It cites tables and criticizes arithmetic and political motives.
In River View Kentucky September 10 1868 Dr A E Geoghegan promotes Limerick's Chill Cure after quinine arsenic and patent medicines failed. A John Brown G S Hilson attest the remedy cured chills returning in seven to fifteen days and remain absent for eight to ten months. A E Geoghegan MD certifies the testimonial.
An advertisement extols a medicine named Limerick's Chill Cure as greatly improved by Dr. Limerick. It claims the remedy is pure harmless and unequaled as a tonic. It urges readers to buy a bottle and spread the word that no other product is genuine.
Dr Limerick's Chill Cure reports extraordinary success claiming permanent relief as its key advantage over other remedies.
