Elm Tree Disease Researchers Study New Elm Illness
In Trarvison and Harrison counties in June, Mr H R Tarte of the state entomologist office examined elm trees for a new disease. Turley led root and leaf tests, cultured fungi, and planned further field work the week of July 4. Tuberculosis testing of dairy cattle in Harrison County found 215 tested with two condemned, with almost 3,600 cows under contract for testing. Calf calf and Jersey purchases were reported, while dairy producers in Louisville planned sales coordination with the Farmers' Association. Corydon Corn Club members toured plots, inspecting corn and melons and discussing methods with vocational agriculture supervisors.

Arlene Faith died suddenly last Monday at 4 o clock after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Oliver Faith and was reared by her grandparents Mr and Mrs A G Lopp of Heth township where she died. Funeral services were held at Mt Zion Church at 2 o clock p m.

Pitman Found Dead Near Home In Iveth Township Farm
Promine Pitman a 61 year old farmer in Corydon area died last Sunday night on his farm. He had gone out to tend sheep and dogs attacking the flock, later found lying under a tree with his gun beside him. Authorities suspect a heart attack worsened by his exertions. He leaves a widow and daughter, three grandchildren, and siblings. Funeral set at his home in Corydon with burial at Cedar Hill.

Dr. T. P. Govan, an eye specialist, called at the office yesterday and plans ten days of work in St. Louis. He arrived from Pawhuska in Osage County where he has worked about a year and the Osage Indian tribe earned $138,400,000 in oil royalties last year.
