The funeral for Jacob Snellbaker was held at Corydon Christian Church last Thursday. John Heth preached, Mrs Geo W Hart led the organ, and a choir included Mrs Lee Lockhart Nellie Williams Annie Stevens Tl J Hudson and D M Rowland. He died June 8 1909 aged 63 years 8 months 28 days leaving a widow a son Warford Snellbaker a daughter Florence Weaver two sisters and many friends. He was born October 19 1845 Harrison county and served in the Civil War from October 15 1863 to its end. He was baptized Lutheran and married Phoebe Hickman January 1 1869.

The Board of Commissioners reports to the State Superintendent on May 31 1909 the Congressional township fund and common school fund balances and conditions. Trust amounts held show Congressional 31858.35 and common school 76499.33 with various allocations for safe investment not safe and not invested in county treasury. Loans paid within the year and funds loaned during the year are itemized for both funds.
The Harrison township schools held commencement at the High School Auditorium last Wednesday evening with about 400 attendees despite bad weather. Twenty graduates were led by speakers Prof. Taylor Prof. Gudgeon and Prof. N H Buerk with diplomas presented by Supt Kannapel. Clara P Wilson gave the welcome, and the Corydon Orchestra provided music.
Early Sunday morning near James Walters' property in Ander son township two racing balloons were seen by James Burke and his son. The Indiana balloon drifted a few hundred feet high while another larger craft rose higher and appeared eight to five miles to the east. both moved south. A balloon over Leopold prompted frightened residents to ask a ground observer what town was overhead.

Obituary notice for Uncle Oliver Cromwell born July 26 1842 died April 24 1909 after pneumonia at age 66 8 months 28 days. Barbara C daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Shuman died June 8 1909 at St Josephs Infirmary Louisville aged 21. Funeral was at German Reform Church Cemetery near Lanesville with priest from the church officiating. She had lifelong delicate health and asked sister Emma to hold her as she died happy leaving a large family and circle of friends.

Mrs. Catharine R. Smith wife of Martin Smith died at 2 o clock Wednesday morning January 20 1909 at her home in Veedersburg from dropsy She leaves husband five children and several Rosenbarger relatives Funeral services were conducted by Elder O P Cooper at the U church and she was laid to rest in Rockfield cemetery Veedersburg Indiana
