It recommends Soda Bordeaux mix or ammoniacal copper carbonate and cautions against regular Bordeaux on Concords and early ripening varieties. The Fairview U B Sunday school will hold a celebration in Reas grove four miles southwest of Corydon on Saturday August 9 1902. All Sunday schools and the public are invited. Able speakers have been invited to give addresses and a good time is anticipated. James G Binkley

Two top clubs from the South bridge area play for the championship of lawyers doctors and business men. The Corydon brass band leads the parade from the courthouse yard at one o'clock with the game set for 1 30. Proceeds go to the band.
A party of young folks from Scott township nearly drowned crossing the Ohio river last Sunday night while returning from church at Paradise Bottom Kentucky. A contrary wind and high waves half filled the two skiffs as the steamer Tell City passed by adding to the peril. They were rescued and landed safely to great rejoicing. Col Tuley a New Albany lawyer and Mexican War veteran dies at home on Friday July 25 at age 16 years. He chaired public life after returning from Mexico and retired in 1900. He belonged to Jefferson Lodge Masons and the Scottish Rite Thirty second degree. Funeral held Sunday at Silver Hills residence with Rev. D C Wright assisting.

Corydon extends lead with a 13 to 11 victory over Howard Park. Bird of Marengo and Carl of Jeffersonville contributed for the visitors as Wilson struck out 12, while Corydon’s infield and outfield were praised for sharp play and resilient pitching by Spence Wilson. Gate receipts reached 35 dollars and 85 cents.
Nearly 125 guests celebrated Mr Willard N Wrights 35th birthday at his farm near Hurst town. Ice cream and cake were provided by neighborhood ladies while Milton Barrow Ivan Barrow and Het Allen played music. Guests departed late night wishing him many more birthdays.
Corydon Commercial Club invites neighbors to a brass band concert and vocal music in the park on Thursday evening. Electricity lights the park, seats arranged for all, with proceeds benefiting the band which will perform Saturdays all summer. Join for a grand success.
The town board in Corydon approved levies for 1902. General fund 35 cents per $100 valuation and $1 per poll. dogs 1 dollar per male, 2 dollars per female. Lights 11 cents. Cemetery 2 cents. Interest on water works bonds 12 cents. Total levy 60 cents per $100 and $1 per poll.
The undersigned expresses gratitude to all who assisted in his recent fire and those who offered sympathy to his welfare. Corydon fair is noted as the year’s biggest attraction.
A letter from H. H. Richard attacks antis for opposing signatures on a remonstrance and defends licensed saloons. He accuses opponents of stirring church distrust, saloon ties, and driving families away, urging chosen men and women to think twice before speaking. He names social ills blamed on opponents and warns against persecution.
The Normal College will hold its commencement next Friday evening with an entertainment program. The exercises feature spicy short addresses and pleasing decorations. Music by the Falls Cities finest male quartet led by Prof. Conn. Admission is nearly free at 10 cents for reserved seats. public invitation extended.

A German Reformed celebration at New Middletown last Thursday drew a large crowd. Addresses were delivered by Rev. Aue Rev. Mills Capt. Marshall Dr. Zenor Prof. Claude Zenor Rev. Vitz and Dr. Kriete of Louisville. Local schools from New Middletown Musselman St. Peter and others attended. The Corydon band provided lively music and Rev. Vitz and his daughter performed instrumental pieces.
Proposals for the purchase of the Nevin Reformed church edifice and two acres of ground will be received until August 15, 1902. Property lies along Branch railroad two miles north of Corydon Indiana. Many local families, including Mr and Mrs John Baer and Mr and Mrs R A Hundlman with Wilma, visited Ann Voelker’s family Sunday. The annual German Lutheran church mission feast near Lanesville Aug 10 will feature Rev F W Mueller of Dearborn County and M W Pott of Jackson County. everyone invited.

Wm Blatter and family visit Dr Fouts at Corydon Junction Sunday. Mrs Harostried of Davies County visits sister Mrs A J Rappenfield. Charles Loughmiller and family of New Albany visit here last week.
Herman Umbrell of New Albany has returned home after a week with Bertha and Hettie Arnold. Mrs. John Arnold was surprised last Sunday to see her children gather at her home. Those present were Frank Yochem and family Charles Umbrell and family Wm. Arnold and family and Mrs. Josie Hartman of New Albany. The time they spent together will be remembered.
