A major blaze at the Indical Reformatory in Jeffersonville damaged the Trade School Dormitory Banc Cell House C Foundry Ware House Administration Building and Chapel. Thirty minutes later Louisville fire crews aided the Jeffersonville department. About 1,270 inmates were moved to safety as the state considers funding to replace the losses.

Obituary of Lydia J. Pitt Pioneer Resident of New Albany
Lydia J. Pitt aged ninety three died at her son Joseph Chester Pitt’s home in New Albany from infirmities of age. Born November 12 1824 in Corydon to Levi and Mary Stetler, she married James Pitt in 1852 and had six children. Survived by William Pitt and Joseph Chester Pitt, a sister Mary M. Stetler, five grandchildren, and the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church member. Funeral held at 2:30 PM Thursday at the family home. Flowers omitted per her wishes.

Death of Charles Mousty in Madison Indiana
Charles Mousty died at nine o'clock Thursday evening in January at the Southeastern Hospital for the Insane in Madison Indiana from pneumonia and general paralysis. The 57 year old inmate was shipped to DePauw for burial with services held February 5 at French Town Catholic church. He leaves a wife and a brother John Mousty of Hancock County. He had been ill for two years and remained under care in Madison.
