Prof. B. F. Peters closed his musical work at this place with a concert including the cantata The Rolling Seasons. The program featured duets, songs, a trio, and the cantata. Attendance was good and Peters announced he will return next fall. He leaves for DeFuniak Springs, Florida to conduct Florida Chautauqua music for seven weeks.
Private John W. Harbaugh writes from U S Barracks Key West Florida describing 60 degree weather and light clothing. He notes bread and onions in meals, five hour workdays, social times with natives, mosquitos, and a pending move north in spring. He asks readers to send the Democrat to his unit in Key West.

Letter from John A Haus detailing an attempted murder at his Laconia business on Feb 4 1902 by William Byrum with accessories. He alleges plotters from Laconia fled the country and vows to prosecute those responsible. The missive asks for press publication.
Mrs Anna Francis Gurtz wife of Michael Gurtz died at Frenchtown in January 1902 in her 68th year. Born in France she came to the country young. She leaves a husband and six children including a son in the Philippines. Father Hascamp led the service. she was laid to rest in the cemetery amid family and friends.
A clipping from the Press and Printer argues that editors must speak out on public questions even if subscribers object. It states independence is essential, and pleasing everyone guarantees ruin. It notes editors should remain as right as possible despite subscriber backlash.

Ms Jacob F Friedley of Boone township announces a sale of all personal property before moving to Cando North Dakota where he will be farm superintendent on a 5200 acre syndicate farm. He raised about 50000 bushels of grain earning roughly 30000 dollars last year with flax crop checks totaling 11000 dollars. He is a noted Mason Odd Fellow and community leader and will move with his family except son Roy who will attend college in Indianapolis.
Indiana claims the only snake farm in Clinton county run by Wiseman Bros. They started with 400 snakes four years ago and now kill about 100,000 reptiles yearly for oil. They expect to double slaughter next year. garter and common house snakes are the main breeds valued for oil and hardiness.
