Corydon Leader Allen Hudson Jordan dies at 67

Allen Hudson Jordan a longtime Corydon insurance man and former Harrison County official died unexpectedly at 11:00 am Tuesday in Harrison County Hospital after a heart attack at home. He served as county clerk, Democratic chairman, and later auto license branch manager. He was 67, survived by Olive Funk his wife and four grandchildren. Services Thursday at Corydon Presbyterian Church. Burial Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Court News Judge Sentences Three On Drunken Driving Charges

Harrison Circuit Court Judge C Bliss Eskew gave three suspended three month terms for operating a vehicle under the influence with six month license suspensions and $100 fines plus costs. Defendants Leora Austin Jackie C Carter and Demore Dillard Jr from New Albany Marengo and Evansville were among those sentenced. Arthur R Froman also paid $100 and costs for DUI.

Rural Area Development dinner set for Feb 16

The Harrison County Rural Area Development Committee will hold its annual dinner Thursday Feb 16 at 7 00 pm at the Houser Stagecoach Restaurant half a mile west of Palmyra on Highway 150. Dr Henry Wadsworth Extension Economist will speak on how industry locates new plants and services existing industry. Tickets cost two dollars and are sold at the County Extension Office and the ASCS Office.

Theresa Bube of Immaculate Conception Academy Ferdinand Ind earned honors at Evansville district piano solo and ensemble contest January 28. She played Brahms Rhapsody Op. 79 No. 1 in group 1, won 1st place, qualifying for the state contest in Indianapolis. Buck Creek Lake proposal discussed with landowners at Corydon meeting

Core drilling and engineering studies for a 440 acre Buck Creek Lake were explained to about 29 property owners. The proposed dam on Bill Clements farm would be 100 feet high, store 15 000 acre feet, and serve rural water, town supply, irrigation, and recreation. An executive committee will pursue the project as part of the Lincoln Hills RC and D effort.
