Rabies vaccination clinics sponsored by the Health Department and local veterinarians will begin next Monday in Harrison County. All dogs six months or older must be immunized, with a one year validity after vaccination. Fees are 1.50 dollars. Clinics encourage leash use and target dog owners countywide.
Ten Harrison County high school seniors are named Indiana State Scholarship winners by the Indiana State Scholarship Commission. Recipients include Janet Deich, Sylvia Lopp, Dennis Wells, Judith Brewster, Carolyn Martin, Rebecca Walk, Donald Abbott, Mary Brockman, Judy Cato, John Jackson, Denise Melton, and Dennis Stepro from Corydon Central, North Central, Lanesville, and South Central high schools.
The Harrison County cases show Joseph A. Curts fined $1 plus $25 for leaving the scene and license suspended one year. Roscoe V. Byrum faces $1,000 bond for reckless driving. Elmer Harris and Clarence Shaw fined $17 each for public intoxication. William Harbeson fined $1 with six months suspended and license voided for one year. Robert Westmoreland fined $1 with six months suspended and license voided for one year. Mary E. Clements named administratrix of Rena Parsons estate. In JP Edna Atwood court Keith Sutherland 19 Mauckport fined $19.25 for reckless driving.
A 1967 Chevrolet was found burning Tuesday morning southwest of Elizabeth near St. Peter's Lake. Sheriff Joe Kessler reported the car had its identification numbers cut out and was stripped of all sellable equipment. Neighbors spotted the blaze at about 8 a.m.

Zoning appeal for Pilot Knobs subdivision and tax appropriations filed with the county auditor. Public hearing for New Middletown Municipal Gas Corp. bidding on blacktop paving at CCHS and highway construction contractors invited.

Dr. Lee B. Wolfe a longtime Dobson Corydon area dentist died at 5 00 pm Friday in Harrison County Hospital after four weeks as a patient. He was 80 and a Mauckport native. He served 27 years as secretary of the Harrison County Agricultural Society and held multiple positions in Indiana county fairs and harness racing. Funeral at Gehlbach Resch on Monday at 2 pm with burial Cedar Hill Cemetery. Survived by wife Gertrude Neely Wolfe daughter Betty Wolfe Corydon brother Albert Wolfe Peckville Pa sister Anna Dierking Jeffersonville.
Corydon attorney Arville L. Art Funk of Corydon was elected to the Indiana University Writers' Conference in the Indiana History Category for Tales Of Our Hoosier Heritage. He and Mrs. Funk will attend the Awards Luncheon at Indiana University on May 7. Funk has published multiple Indiana history volumes and his work circulated statewide after installments in Outdoor Indiana.
The Harri son County Rural Area Development Committee heard that acquiring sub marginal land for rural land fill dumping could fall under the Greenspan program. A county official explained that a land fill could reclaim land for recreation and conservation, with federal cost sharing and preservation of historic farm areas. FHA loans for water and waste disposal were outlined, with Palmyra seeking a loan and others planning similar financing. Planning and zoning will be discussed again May 2.
The Eureka Telephone Company shifts its annual shareholders meeting from April 29 to the latter part of May due to extensive legal work for contracts and SEC approval. Three informational meetings at South Central School Corydon Central High School and North Central School will explain the Continental Telephone offer to purchase shares at about 622 per Eureka share and how stock exchanges for Continental stock will occur.
North Central Band Boosters host an auction on school grounds April 29 at 10 a.m. in bad weather move to the school gym with auc tioneer John A. Uhl. Donations invite, pick up provided, refreshments sold, and a Battle of the Bands at 2 p.m. Admission 50 cents. A trophy for best band accompanies plans to fund new uniforms and to send the North Central Marching Tigers to the Indiana State Fair contest in Indianapolis, then on tour and to Coney Island May 12–13.
Paul Hartman of Evansville University notes that most U S colleges were founded by or linked to religious groups. At the Bi-County Methodist Men's dinner about 100 attended. Mrs. Paul Conrad sang and the Men’s Chorus performed under Herman Laberhuis’s direction. Loran Lopp spoke briefly. The meal was prepared by women of Central Barren Methodist.
Corydon as the county seat will be the focus of the Corydon Chamber of Commerce quarterly meeting on April 20 at 7 30 p.m. at the Corydon Country Club. Purdue economist Henry Courtenay will speak on sustaining connections with outside consumers and improving downtown to boost trade.
Dial telephone service will begin in the Marengo exchange next Sunday at 12 05 a.m. When it starts 550 new Marengo subs will join the Eureka system. Rural homes gain their first telephone service. A limestone brick central office built by Shireman Bros Inc Corydon houses Stromberg Carlson equipment. Cables were installed by Tudor Yeager Tipton. Marengo becomes the first Eureka exchange without open wire outside facilities and offers toll free dialing to all other exchanges.
Corydon Town Board authorized filing for a federal grant to cover 75 percent of a 428000 addition to the sewage treatment plant. Expansion aims to handle increased waste from the Ralston Purina plant. Two stage high rate filter units planned. Police car bid awarded to Parks Chevrolet at 1400 including trade-in.
An informational meeting on town planning and urban renewal is set for Tuesday April 18 at 7 30 p m in the Eureka Telephone Building meeting room Gordon Pendleton says Beckman Swenson Associates of Pittsburgh will explain the urban renewal process for a downtown block south of Chestnut between Capitol and Mulberry Streets The Planning Commission invites property owners downtown businesspeople and interested citizens to attend Keith Swenson will present a plan for an in town shopping center with extra parking No decisions have been made yet by the Commission or Town Board.
The C M P Youth Fellowship will stage Room For One More by William Davidson this Sunday at 7 30 PM at Corydon Methodist Church to raise money for a summer work camp. The two act play centers on a New Jersey family with visiting youths, featuring a large cast led by Mother Carol Miller and others.
