Defense procurement slows to 18 billion dollars in the year, promising a drag on tracts. Allis-Chalmers president Robert Stevenson notes 1958 shows strength in farm equipment, aided by 5 to 6 percent higher farm income. Sears manager Arthur Rosenbaum projects soft foods retail up 1 percent this year and 44 to 45 percent rise next spring, while apparel strengthens though price pressures stay muted.
