Five Erie Firemen Hurt Fighting Fire
Five Erie firemen were seriously hurt while battling a two story barn fire in Erie Pennsylvania on September 24. Captains Amann Andrews suffered severe bruises and burns on hands while Captain Sweitner sustained shoulder injuries. Firemen Sullivan and Moore suffered lesser injuries with hospital treatment and examinations for possible internal injuries. The barn roof collapsed trapping a sign and the loss was around 7000 dollars.

Levine Flies to Venice in Monoplane Pair
Chas A Levine and Capt Walter Hinchcliffe planned a flight to Venice in the Bellanica monoplane Columbia to attend the Schneider air race. Their departure depended on repairing a minor engine defect after a forced landing near Vienna yesterday ended their England to India nonstop attempt. The landing was caused by fuel gauge issues, not weather, and occurred in rain at Aspern Field.
