Area Employment Dipped In August

Area employment slipped in August with 88,500 on payrolls versus 88,000 in July and 89,100 in August 1959. Navy Secretary Overrules Ouster Of Strict Officer Thompson

Navy Secretary William B. Franke overruled a medical board that found Lt. John M. Thompson unfit for duty and ordered him returned to full active service. U S Transport Plane Crashes Off Okinawa

NAHA Okinawa AP An U S Marine transport plane with 29 aboard crashed 190 miles southeast of Okinawa after reporting engine trouble. The Oriskany’s destroyer Perkinss and rescue planes searched a debris strewn area with life jackets but no survivors found. Bodies were reported in the water as three were spotted. three U S destroyers remained on scene. The aircraft belonged to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Twakuni Japan and was described as an RSD transport plane.

Hospital Aides To Attend Fire Course In October

Four employees from Corry Memorial Hospital will attend a one day fire control and patient evacuation course in Jamestown on October 10. The mother was treated and released and the boy admitted in satisfactory condition.
