Five Die in Indiana Plane Crash at Jimmy Stewart Airport
A private Piper Apache crashed during a sky show at the newly dedicated Jimmy Stewart Airport near Indiana Pennsylvania killing pilot Wayne Hess and four passengers. Three rescue workers were injured. Witnesses say the plane circled and failed to clear trees before the impact and explosion. The victims were Hess age 41 of Clymer and passengers Edward Stahura 27 Andrew Stahura 31 Blaine Johnson 26 and Joseph Ricupero 26 all of Indiana. The three day celebration included the airport dedication officiated by Jimmy Stewart.

Corry Man Sentenced to State Penitentiary
Harald Jewell, 63, of Corry was sentenced by Judge Burton R. Laub in Erie to an indefinite term of six months to two years in the Western Penitentiary in a morals case involving his then-age daughter. He was ordered to pay costs and to be sent to the State Diagnostic Center. The sentencing occurred at 10 a.m. with Corry Police Sgt. Frank Carnegie present. Jewell had been convicted last week of the offense.

Five Die In Plane Crash At Indiana Pa Airport
Newsman Bill Hastings witnessed a plane crash at the newly dedicated Jimmy Stewart Airport in Indiana Pa killing five people and injuring three others. A crowd watched as flames consumed the wreckage and victims were recovered.
VFW Post to Receive Surplus F94C Jet Plane
A surplus F94C jet fighter will be placed on the Corry VFW post front lawn as a gift from the Air Force. The plane will be delivered from Olmstead or Harrisburg after interior equipment is removed and is funded by a donated tractor trailer for transport.
