Allied reports say Soviet forces press a major advance to encircle Nazi units along the Dnieper bend as war plans shift to large scale offensives in Europe and the Mediterranean. An 18 year old youth, Edward Jknita, was shot dead after he and three companions were caught rifling a garage. The city had completed payment for the original 210 meters and finished payment for 20 added meters on Main and Washington streets.
