Corry area plans move on for new junior high school

Members of the Corry area Joint Committee’s building panel narrowed nine architectural proposals to eight and will pick a firm at the next meeting on October 9. Site choices center on the high school property east of the building, deemed the only large-enough plot by state standards, with six acres near Wright Schools considered insufficient. The plan contemplates one or two stories, possible shared facilities with the senior high such as the auditorium and athletic field to cut costs, and pressured by crowded current facilities.

Driver in three vehicle crash listed in poor condition

An Olja truck driver Robert E. Coll, 28, is in poor condition at Union Guy Memorial Hospital after a three-truck crash near Mill Village. Corry State Police say Coll's semi failed brakes, rear ending Wilbur E. Lake's truck, then struck a westbound wall. The other driver Richard B. Smith escaped injury. Damages totaled about $2,700 for the Coll semi, $1,400 for the Lake truck, and $611 for the Smith truck.

Man and Daughter Die of Cancer in St Louis

A man and his daughter, both of St Louis, died seven minutes apart from cancer. Thomas Francis McGowan, 77, a retired contractor, and Marie Dollard, 52, had been ill about two years. Mrs Dollard is survived by her husband. McGowan had two other sons and another daughter.

Tot Run Over by Father in Driveway Accident

William Deloer, two, was critically injured in a driveway accident in Miami Erie when his father backed a car over him.
