Philadelphia AP Sept 19 wounded veterans of World War I will share equally in the income from an 820000 residuary fund in the will of Eugene Knecht the 87 year old bachelor who died in January Knecht a native of Alsace Lorraine but naturalized said the will aims to help wounded soldiers. The estate total is about 2500000 and executor Charles J Quinn said all the men are poor or of moderate means many are severely wounded with a leg missing or paralysis and will need care rest of their days.
Florence M Guthrie 23 is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of her husband Thomas Guthrie 29 on September 4. She was refused from Washington County job today in 8000 dollar bond. Judge Carl Gibson admitted bail on the request of District Attorney Georges T Cummins who called the offense second degree murder.
Official word confirms Pvt. John Dombraste died as a Japanese prisoner in 1942. His mother, Mrs. Anna Dombraski of 130 Hatch Street, received a letter from Major C W Munkisen noting he died June 3rd 1942 at Camp ODonnell in the Philippines from dysentery and that burial occurred on Lugon Island. Dombraski had worked at the Aero Supply plant and enlisted in 1941 with an Army Engineers unit.
George Weber was injured yesterday afternoon when he fell from the roof to the porch at 412 South Center Street during a heavy rain leak repair attempt. He was taken to Orry Hospital for examination. initial x rays showed no fractures but shock and possible internal injuries were noted.
