Corry citizens are urged to attend a Monday night mass meeting at 8 in the Municipal Building to decide the form of a relief organization, set a welfare budget, and elect a campaign chairman. Unemployment and winter needs loom large as the community plans a coordinated relief effort.
Col and Mrs Charles A Lindbergh arrived in Nanking at 2 35 pm completing a 750 mile flight from Fukuoka Japan their route crossed the eastern sea with two stops The flooding Yangtze confined the landing area and refugees along river walls cheered as escort planes led the way to a landing spot on Lotus Lake near the city walls.
Dearborn Michigan Sept 19 two men Leroy Manning and L I Garriott were instantly killed when a Ford experimental bomber crashed near the city. In Wilkinsburg Pennsylvania teen Robert Jaroba 14 was injured in a separate incident near Lofun Lake while Blanche Belleman 20 faced injuries. A coroner set a $3,000 bond in another case.
New York stocks extended a sharp down swing as Britain's 53 percent bonds collapsed after the pound devaluation rumors. The bear market deepened with railroad shares near 1897 lows and industrials around 1925, marking the 12th decline in 15 days. Hampton Va Sept 19 Authorities in Hampton and Knoxville sought more evidence in the death of Prof Busha Kent Kane's wife last Friday after his execution on bond. Letters between Kane and his wife and notes from Mrs Betty Dodd were found, alongside testimony amid a coroner's ruling of premarital homicide. Witnesses described a struggle in the water and Kane driving away with the unconscious woman.
Cleveland police sergeant Carl Hossbach, $3, was infected after a prisoner bit him on the right index finger in a hand to hand encounter. Special nurses treated him as physicians fought the spreading infection. Roy Davis, 29, was arrested for questioning and held on a charge of domestic battery.
TOKIO September 19 The movements of American ocean fliers Dan Moyle and Cecil A Allen remain unknown as radio operators try to reach them at Nevarin Island 1600 miles north of Tokyo. They had sent no word for 24 hours after reporting a Russian steamer and planning to depart for Nome and Seattle continuing their trans Pacific flight.
Clyde Pangborn and Hugh Herndon Jr. received a government permit to attempt a nonstop flight across the Pacific from Sabishiro Beach before October 16. The long-delayed authorization included restrictions and a strict course, after earlier fines for photographing Japanese fortifications. Dr. David Starr Jordan, 80, emeritus chancellor of Stanford, was dying at his Palo Alto home.

In Souderport Pennsylvania on Sept 19 an autopsy was held to determine the death of Mrs Lillian Wager 39 of Buffalo N Y shot while asleep in a car. Henry Selber 29 of Buffalo said they were en route when the bullet struck the passenger seat near Roosevelt Highway three miles west of Roulette. He initially said he was asleep then claimed he was listening to a radio. He thought the bullet came from outside the car and stated he had no idea who fired it. The victim was taken to Port Allegany hospital and pronounced dead. Selber was jailed in Potter County awaiting an inquest set for Monday.
President Hoover plans to depart Washington from Camp Rapid after midnight for Detroit to address the American Legion convention. He will return Monday night and will write his speech on the train, according to a White House statement by secretary Theodore Joslin.
State investigators probe cause of sudden poisoning of about 90 inmates at the Tecumseh state industrial school. Gov. MUffay said victims sickened Wednesday night, with several hospital cases. Superintendent Bezanson reported most improved. arsenic evidence noted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Six people narrowly escaped injury when a dynamite bomb exploded in a Homewood restaurant early today. Special Patrolman Harden arrived after the blast and doused a second bomb. Bertha Alexopoulos and several relatives on the third floor slept through the danger. Her husband died months ago. Mrs J Johnson visited relatives in Shoftiele today.
Wilmington September 19 state police and county officers hunted 11 of the 14 escapees from the New Castle county workhouse. A guard was shot twice by the convicts, three escapees were retaken near the prison area with two shot, and the search to shoot to kill was ordered. The rioting leaders are described as desperate and heavily armed.
