Official Tuesday primary vote tabulation begins at county offices

Official tabulation of Tuesday's primary returns launched at the county commissioners offices at Bries at noon. Officials expect definite results on all races in the city and county by noon Monday. Charged With Triple Murder by Purple Gang

Four known members of the Purple gang are charged by prosecutor Harry Toy with a triple murder committed Wednesday. Police ordered the quartet dead or alive, warning officers the men were armed and likely to shoot it out rather than surrender. The suspects are Ray Bernstein, Harry Fleisher, Irving Milberg, and Harry Keywell, who allegedly killed Joseph Luther, Joseph Lebovitz, and Herman Paul over gang dealings in a North Side apartment.

Stocks in Violent Decline Across Markets Today

New York markets fell sharply with prices down 1 to 12 points and London stocks leading losses. Securities shed 64 million pounds sterling in value amid broad selling thought to be bank and insurer distress. Cotton futures hit new lows since 1904 as grains dropped. Prisoner and Guard Shot in Wild Outbreak

Wilmington Del September 18 two men a guard and a prisoner were shot today when rioting broke out at the New Castle county work house ten miles from here. Officials said 14 prisoners escaped during the disturbance. The injured were Anthony B Hayden guard and Clarence Cole prisoner, who was recaptured after being wounded in the shoulder by a guard. Cole led the outbreak and was brought to the prison recently from Wilmington serving 18 years for banditry. Authorities charged a prisoner named Sellers with Hayden's shooting. How the prisoners obtained the pistols and weapons remained a mystery.

Murder charges loom in Jersey husband case

Olga Ziegler of Park Ridge and George Flanard, both jailed awaiting grand jury action on first degree murder charges in Otto Ziegler’s death. Ziegler pleaded not guilty. four other potential witnesses face $500 bail. Convict Schliger in Erie Murder Case

Brim Sept 18 Sentencing for Alois Schliger 22 Erie convicted of second homicide in the James Massing slaying, a Wesleyville gas station attendant. Sentencing deferred pending motion for new trial alleging improper jury instruction by Judge A B Rossiter. Massing was shot during a holdup August 22, 1930. Schliger said he believed his revolver was unloaded when entering the station. Jury returned a verdict after two hours deliberation yesterday.

Graf Zeppelin began its second round trip flight to Brazil from Friedrichshafen at 11:59 am today. The airship carried passengers and mail over the South Atlantic to Pernambuco in favorable weather, testing the viability of trans Atlantic airship service without incident.

Federal judge Louis Fitzhenry fined the Fleischman Yeast Company 3000 dollars after it pleaded no contest to an indictment charging conspiracy to violate the national prohibition act. Warren man takes over Chevrolet agency in Warren

Sidewalk bandit attacks girl in Pittsburgh night

A well dressed sidewalk bandit slugged a young girl near The Taco in Pittsburgh last midnight. The girl screamed, was knocked to the ground, and was sent home after treatment for bruises. No order to surrender was given.

Two Killed in Steubenville Pike Crash Near Bavington

Two men die in a collision between a car and a truck on the Steubenville Pike near Bavington. The victims were Leo Bednarko of Pittsburgh and Charles Hunziker of Pittsburgh. Police say the auto took a skid and struck the truck driven by Doyle Durbin of Steubenville.

Six Are Burned in Coal Mine Blast
